We are a mixed Reception and Year 1 class. You can find us in the original Victorian part of the school building. We are lucky to have different rooms which are resourced for the different aspects of our learning such as small world, role play, craft and construction as well as our main classroom space. On the other hand you might find us all outside! Our outdoor area is superbly resourced with a wide variety of toys and equipment which the children have access to all year round, whatever the weather. We teach the curriculum through topics that follow the children’s interests and requests but include all the elements of the National Curriculum for the Year 1 children. Topics have included ‘Why don’t Polar Bears eat Penguins?’, ‘Down in the Jungle’, ‘Space and Space Travel’, ‘Under the Sea’, ‘Vets and Pets’ and ‘The Gruffalo and the Deep Dark Woods’. Sometimes you won’t find us here at all because we will have gone out for the day visiting somewhere like the seaside, castle, ballet or puppet theatre. We do a daily workout to keep ourselves fit and love having parents and carers come to ‘Stay & Play’.
